Summer School

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

The year is wrapping up and soon we’ll be in the summer.  For most this will mean vacation– but for some, it means summer school.  Queens Collegiate will be running a combined program with two other College Board Schools (Preparatory Academy for Writers & Pathways College Preparatory School).  Summer school will be a non-traditional program at the Springfield Gardens Campus on Springfield Boulevard next to the Belt Parkway.  It will run Monday through Thursday for four hours each day, and for four and a half weeks total over the course of the summer.  Summer school begins July 5, and goes through Regents Week (August 17-18), but July 18-July 31 will be a period students will work from home on a mini-vacation.

For those of you still working to get the homework, CastleLearning and other assignments in– please get it all in by Monday.  Teachers are working on the final trimester grades now.

We will be making summer school decisions within the next two weeks and notifications will be sent home to families.  Promotional criteria is as follows:

  • 6th to 7th– Level 2 or above on the exams + 65s on major subjects + 90% attendance (less than 18 days absent)
  • 9th to 10th– At least 8 credits + 90% attendance
  • 10th to 11th– At least 20 credits, with at least 4 in English and 4 in Social Studies + 90% attendance
  • 11th to 12th–At least 30 credits + 90% attendance
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email or call the school.
Best regards,
Mrs. Dubei

I am interested in summer school for Alec so, please let me know as soon as the forms becomes available since my supposedly excellent son/student who seemed to be an overachiever has been evaluated at an 84% average so, I do believe that my excellent son/student needs the summer school help.

    • Hi Valary,
QC doesn’t have 7th grade students at this time. Sorry we won’t have summer school for 7th grade. We are adding a 7th grade class this September, so we will have 7th grade summer school, if needed, next year.
      All the best,
      Jaime Dubei
