Dear Parents & Guardians,
Thanks to you, our students and staff we had very successful College Tours this past week.
This week is also quite busy:
Monday is the first day of the 2nd Marking Period. 6th grade students will begin attending their new classes.
For the HS: the final marking period for this trimester. Student grades from the 1st & 2nd marking period will be averaged for a final grade, and credit will be awarded in December. Schedules will change accordingly in the beginning of December.
Tuesday, 6:30PM is College Night. Various colleges will be represented by their admissions counselors and regional representatives. This is a *great* opportunity for students to get more information and find out about various colleges. It will be held in the cafeteria.
Thursday & Friday are Parent-Advisor-Student Conferences. All conferences are held by appointment with your child’s advisor. Please contact them and let them know when you are available between 6-8:30PM on Thursday or 12:30-3:30 Friday. All parents/guardians should plan to attend. If you have work or health related reasons why you cannot attend, please set up a phone conference time so you can still get the information. Report cards will be available at the conferences.
Friday, 10/29 we will be holding our first Homecoming Dance, in conjunction with Jamaica HS, High School for Community Leadership and Hillside Arts & Letters Academy. We are proud to give our high school students the opportunity to have fun together and celebrate Homecoming. There will be a small fee for tickets, and tickets must be purchased prior to the event. No tickets will be sold at the door. Students who have more than 3 points, or are on suspension, are not eligible for attendance. We hope that our high school students will plan to attend.
Please do not hesitate to email me with questions or concerns. Looking forward to seeing you this week.
