10th grade trip letter

Dear 10th Grade Parents,

Due to the great success of our college road-trip to Boston last school year our teachers have decided to begin organizing a similar trip this year to our nation’s capital for Thursday and Friday October 8-9.  While in Washington D.C. we are planning to visit a wide variety of the city’s universities and give our students as much insight into what they can expect from a college experience as possible.  Although the school list has not been finalized we believe the trip will include visits to Georgetown, George Washington University, Howard University, and American University.  Because we strongly believe it is never too early for our students to begin thinking about college, we feel this trip would be an extremely beneficial addition to the each individual’s academic school year.

We are hopeful that all 10th grade students can attend, but in order to make our final bus reservations and accommodations for the one night we must gather a final head count as soon as possible.  We are asking that each student contribute $50 dollars to help offset the cost of buses, accommodations and meals throughout the two-day event.  If any parent and student feel as if they are unable to meet the financial request and would still like to participate in the trip please contact Mr. McMahon at school or by phone as soon as possible.  In order to finalize our trip we need this form along with funding to be returned to Queens Collegiate as soon as possible, but no later than Friday 9/25 in order to ensure a spot on the bus.  We are extremely confident that a trip to Washington will be a worthwhile experience and really boost your child’s education and our teachers hope that all our students will be able to participate.

Note to Students:  Throughout the first month of school it is your responsibility to prove to your QC teachers that you deserve to go on the Washington D.C. trip.   Although we would like to take every 10th grader we want you to understand that the trip is not a right but a privilege.   We expect you to be on time to school, prepared for every class, (This includes being in uniform) and completing all homework. Therefore, you will be given 3 strikes over the next 3 weeks and a strike will be given for any noncompliance.  We are confident that all 10th graders will start the year on the right foot and everyone will make it to Washington.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. McMahon or myself at the number or email listed above.

Educationally Yours,

Mrs. Dubei

Principal
