As an international affairs preparatory school, we are continually trying to expose your child to the cultures, beliefs and history of other countries and civilizations. We have a remarkable opportunity to share our homes and classrooms with 8 students from Vlaardingen, The Netherlands from Sunday, September 6 until Friday, September 11, 2009. These students have been carefully picked from the students of Het College Vos, our sister school, and they have been working online with our students from Queens Collegiate over the past few months to explore democracy, immigration and integration in American and Dutch societies.
New York City, a former Dutch colony, has a 400 year history with the Netherlands, and this exchange program is celebrating the past, while looking forward to the rich opportunities in the future. As a former exchange student myself, I still communicate and visit my host sister and those who stayed in my home. These bonds can be life-long, helping your child to see beyond their current borders and see the greatness found in the world.
Ms. Ungar and I are looking for homes for 4 boys and 4 girls from Vlaardingen for 4 days and nights. The host family would provide a soft place to sleep, meals while eating at home, and the experience of living in an American family for a short time.
Please return the bottom portion if you are interested. Feel free to contact me via phone or email with any questions.
