As you are aware, swine flu has been circulating around the city, especially in our neighborhood. Neither Queens Collegiate nor Jamaica HS have had an increase in absences or flu like symptoms. We do not anticipate an increase, but we want to take healthy precautions to protect all members of our community.
What are we doing to prevent the spread of illness? 1) Washing hands frequently, especially after coughing, sneezing or before eating. We have installed Purell dispensers in every room for student & teacher use. 2) Encouraging all to cover your mouth and nose with your arm when coughing or sneezing. 3) Wiping down exposed surfaces after coughing or sneezing.
For more information on swine flu, please see the DOE’s web page for this purpose.
Should QC or JHS have an increase in symptoms or a confirmed case, we will notify parents as quickly as possible. Please follow us on Twitter or put us in a blog reader (such as iGoogle) so you get updates quickly.
